Do You Feel Valued at Work?

Boredprofessionalsmall_2 I was reading a piece in the Sunday Times recently on how "High Flyers Demand Love and Nurture" from their companies and I was thinking about the evidence I see for this in my work. The article at one point describes employees today as emotionally needy with "no idea how to manage their own careers".

I think that is a bit harsh, but I would agree with the premise that today’s professionals demand a level of engagement and job satisfaction that their predecessors would not have expected. I work with many professionals who don’t feel valued in their roles, become despondent and are looking for something greater than what their job currently gives them – which is often what brings them to professional coaching. How often do you feel this way? How could you be more actively engaged at work?
