Surprise, Surprise, Professional Women Marry For Love!

Woman with world in hands As women become more economically independent, and often out
earn their partners during their relationship,
financial security is no longer
a reason to get married
these days women are marrying for love, compatibility
and someone who supports their career dreams. Historically men have been more
eager to marry when they're financially secure, and women have wanted to marry
when they wanted children.
Now however, women receive 60% of college degrees
and comprise half the workforce. When a
woman has a good job, her security needs are met,
and she looks for a man to
provide emotional support. Women are
looking for partners who are romantic, supportive, good communicators and will
be helpful on the home front. It seems that men's standards, too, have changed
in what they find attractive in a potential wife
. Until the 1960s men ranked a
woman's education and intelligence at No. 11 on their lists of attractive
qualities. Now men prioritize a woman's intelligence over her good looks,
ranking it at No. 4 as compared to No. 8.
Good news for female breadwinners who
want their spouse to support their career and want a stay at home
husband to take care of the children when they come along.

This is one of the best things about contemporary society: that women can seek out a man who wants to be a stay at home dad. That’s something that would only have been a dream in the past, and now my husband and I are leaving the dream.
